Meeting Wrapup

The meeting was quite short because few residents came who were not affiliated with the board or various committees. The main business was to elect two new board members. We welcome back Mary Esther Garza who will return as president and our newest board member, Selina Villarreal, who will be the assistant secretary. The rest of the meeting was short and sweet.

After the annual meeting, the board decided on monthly meeting times. In general they are every odd month (Jan, Mar, etc) on the third Tuesday. We also talked about the Pflugerville Drop by Drop program. Information is available online and they are already accepting rebate forms for 2009. Added this year are 30 gal rain barrels. For most plants you get 50% back in rebates if you follow their guide.

"Grow Our Community on Earth Day!"

This is an event for ALL the Residents of Springbrook Glen. We are holding a Spring Fling in our park in honor of Earth Day to help "Grow Our Community". Some events currently being organized for this year's Spring Fling Celebration include HOA Board and Committee Welcoming Station (sign-in, balloons), Food and Drinks, Kids Arts & Crafts (flower planting and wooden kid kits from Home Depot, coloring books, games), Kindermusik demonstrations, Bouncers/Moonwalks, Neighborhood Vendors and Home Demonstrations, Pflugerville Fire Department (ID Kits and more) & Police Department (Tour a Fire Truck), Tree Planting Ceremony, Landscaping Q&A by both a master gardener at Lowes (with prizes) and the Travis County Master Gardener's Association, etc.

Come out, meet your neighbors and enjoy the festivites. Bring your lawn chair and hang out at the park.

For this event, we also want to give an opportunity to all of our neighbors in the Springbrook Glen subdivision a chance to really tap into some of the resources that we have right in our own backyards. During Springbrook Glen's Spring Fling 2007, scheduled for Saturday, April 21st from 11am-2pm, we want to give our neighbors with a business the opportunity to share their information with other residents by having their own booth. As our community gets older, we may all, at one time or another, be looking for people we can trust for routine home maintenance or home related issues like a reliable plumber, HVAC company, painter, deck builder, landscaper, Realtor, Security Systems, pest control, etc.

If this is something that you may be interested in or you would like more information on, please contact Veronica Lee by Friday, March 16th.

Wrapup: Easter Egg Hunt April 8th 4:00p

The Easter Egg hunt in the park was great! There was an area designated for our youngest hunters (1-3) and a separate area for our more experienced hunters (4 on up). Thanks to Shelly O'Mara for her work organizing and planning for this event. She hid nearly 400 eggs that were found within a few minutes of the start by approximately 40 kids and MAYBE half were from our subdivision. I could sense a mutiny waiting to happen when the bigger kids couldn't find any more eggs and noticed the little kid area. Luckily folks were there to stop them and no one was seriously injured. Three golden eggs were eventually found and prizes were handed out to the winners. Pictures were taken and they will be posted soon. If you have any pictures from the event, send them to our webmaster (brhall@mail.utexas.edu).
